The Free State Project chose the porcupine as its mascot because it is a friendly creature that has a wicked defense. Its quills are strictly defensive in nature and so the porcupine is a good representative for those who believe that the use of force should only be used in defense.
Because of this, members of the Free State Project started calling themselves as well as fellow travelers "porcupines". Current usage of the term can be used to refer to just Free State Project members or it can refer to members and allies in the movement to restore freedom to the United States in general and New Hampshire in specific.
There are two generally accepted definitions of "porc manor":
The porc manor in Deerfield known as "Little Minnesota", which is owned by Ron Helwig, is one example. Another is "Porc Central" in Manchester, which is on Central ave. Of course not all porc manors are named, and some desire to be anonymous - remaining "under the radar".
PorcManor.com is designed to help porcupines moving in to New Hampshire connect up with porcupine landlords already living here who have space available.
